The Labrador Retriever Dog (Black Lab or Golden Lab) Information, Pet Portrait Artwork, Dog Photography The Labrador Retriever dog, is a versatile hunter and a devoted family dog. It is also a service-type dog used in police work for tracking (search and rescue), detection of drugs, bombs, contraband, cadavers and fire accelerants, as well as service dogs for the disabled. Labs are famously recognized as the seeing-eye-dog for the blind. Labs love to fetch and retrieve anything you throw at a distance and will swim endlessly as they also love the water. After all, they do have a flab of skin in between the toes that gives them webbed feet!
