To help you decide what type of pet portrait you want me to create of your beloved companion, you will find in my Pet Portraits Gallery numerous portraits of dogs, cats, horses and other animals. The type of medium I currently work with include graphite and/or charcoal pencils, colored pencils, watercolor paints and soft pastels on velour paper or sand paper. If you prefer the classic look of a black/white pet portrait, you should choose a detailed pencil portrait. Or, perhaps you prefer splashes of color as in my pastel pet portraits or watercolor pet portraits.

Gallery of Graphite Pencil Pet Portraits-Each highly detailed pencil drawing of pets take quite some time to complete. In each portrait, you can see the individual hairs, from the short velvety fur on the muzzle to the longer body fur, fluffy or stiff, wavy or straight! Gallery of Watercolor Pet Portraits (Paintings)-Watercolor paintings of my pet portraits have somewhat softer color than those created in pastels. However, I assure you that none of the detail is left out in my watercolor pet portraits as it could be in traditional watercolor paintings. This is because I prefer to use a technique called "dry brushing" where very little water is used with the watercolor paints. This enables me to create fine lines that make up the strands of fur with solid color rather than have the impressionistic effect that can result when applying dilute washes (paint mixed with larger quantity of water). I have recently started to offer these watercolor pet portraits to my customers so make sure to come back to see more work added. Gallery of Pastel Pet Portraits (Paintings)-The colors of pastel pet portrait paintings are vibrant and pure and each subject has a soft and velvety feel to them. This is a new medium I have discovered and it is much like using colored pencils but with much richer colors that can be layered. I prefer to use sandpaper or velour paper which are of the highest quality pastel papers since the final results are truly amazing. Below is an example of a work in progress that I hope will be completed very shortly.
